Cook / Nutritionist

Journey Early Learning is seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and experienced Childcare Cook to join the Tatura Centre in Victoria. The role is responsible for planning and preparing nutritious meals and snacks for children while ensuring dietary requirements, allergies, food safety standards, and centre policies are followed.

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday and contribute to creating a healthy and positive mealtime experience for children.

Key Responsibilities :

• Bring Journey’s values of connection, communication, and consideration into everyday practice
• Follow Journey’s child safe policy and code of conduct
• Purchase food supplies according to menu plans and budget requirements
• Prepare nutritious and appealing meals and snacks for children
• Ensure meals meet children’s dietary requirements and allergy needs
• Maintain health, hygiene, and safety standards according to childcare regulations and centre procedures
• Consult with families regarding children’s nutritional requirements
• Monitor temperatures of kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, and refrigerators
• Store food safely in temperature-controlled facilities and maintain accurate records
• Prepare meals for children with special dietary requirements
• Lead and mentor other kitchen staff

Qualifications and experience :

• AQF recognised Certificate III qualification
• Minimum two years of on-the-job training
• Demonstrated commitment to preparing healthy and nutritious meals for children of all ages
• Current Asthma, Anaphylaxis, and First Aid Certificates
