Early Childhood Teacher
Taigum Child Edu-care Centre is a reputable childcare centre located in Taigum, QLD, providing impactful guidance for young children throughout their early childhood development stages.The role available is for an Early Childhood Teacher based in Taigum, QLD. This is a full-time position with an annual salary between $83,000 and $86,000 depending on experience, plus superannuation.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement childcare programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest, and providing opportunities to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
- Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and wellbeing of children.
- Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or concerns with parents and other staff members.
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
- Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toileting habits.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
- Plan and organise activities for school-age children in childcare programs before and after regular school hours, where required.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants, where required.
Early Childhood Educator Assistant Duties :
- Support early childhood educators in delivering programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
- Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
- Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
- Assist children with eating, dressing, and toileting routines.
- Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
- Maintain daycare equipment and assist with housekeeping and cooking duties.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent).
- First Aid qualifications and training as prescribed by the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 (CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis, General First Aid).
- At least 12 months of professional experience in early childhood teaching in Australia.
- At least 12 months' experience teaching in early childhood education settings, delivering programs aligned with EYLF and NQS.
- At least 12 months' experience in curriculum development, child assessment, and educational programming.
- At least 12 months' experience mentoring and supervising educators in early childhood pedagogy and best practices.
- At least 12 months' experience supporting children with diverse learning needs and implementing inclusive teaching strategies.
- At least 12 months' experience liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies to support children's learning outcomes.
- Thorough knowledge of the National Quality Framework.
- Current knowledge of relevant curriculum frameworks and the ability to implement programs that cater to diversity among children, educators, families, and the community.
- Working knowledge and thorough understanding of the National Quality Standards, the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with children, adults, fellow educators, and the community.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while being sensitive to the strengths and weaknesses of fellow team members.
