Cook / Nutritionist

Journey Early Learning is seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and experienced Cook to plan and prepare nutritionally balanced meals and snacks for children at the Tatura Centre. The role involves preparing daily meals that meet dietary requirements and allergies while ensuring high standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation.

Task & Responsibilities :

• Bringing the Journey Values of connection, communication and consideration to life and reflect this in everyday practice
• Ability to adhere to Journey’s child safe policy and code of conduct
• Ensuring food provisions are purchased in accordance with menu and budget requirements
• Ensuring meal presentation is appetising and appealing to children
• Carrying out health, hygiene, and safety procedures according to Child Care Regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Legislations, Duty of Care and centre policy and procedure documents
• Consulting families regarding children’s nutritional requirements
• Regulating temperatures of all kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, fridges etc)
• Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities and maintaining records
• Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements
• Leading and mentoring other kitchen staff.

Qualification and Experience :

• AQF recognised Certificate III plus at least two years of on-the-job training
• Demonstrated commitment to providing healthy and nutritious meals for children
• Current Asthma, Anaphylaxis and First Aid Certificates.
