As our Centre Chef, you will play a crucial role in shaping the food culture of our centre by preparing wholesome meals and snacks that meet the unique dietary needs of the children in our care. Task and responsibilities :

• Prepare and serve healthy, balanced meals and snacks tailored to children’s nutritional needs, including allergies, intolerances, and cultural preferences
• Collaborate closely with educators and families to ensure meal plans support each child’s wellbeing and dietary requirements
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment, adhering strictly to food safety and hygiene standards
• Manage food stock, ordering, and minimising waste through effective kitchen practices
• Support children’s understanding of healthy eating by contributing to educational initiatives within the centre.

Qualification and experience :

• Proven experience as a chef or cook, preferably within an early childhood or childcare setting
• Comprehensive knowledge of food safety standards and safe food handling practices
• Ability to prepare meals accommodating a variety of dietary needs and preferences, including allergies and cultural considerations
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage kitchen operations smoothly
• A positive, collaborative approach and strong communication skills
• Relevant food handling and safety certifications (e.g. Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Food Safety Certificate, etc.).
