About the role - Childcare at TAFE NSW

Join TAFE NSW as an Early Childhood Director and lead a high-quality early learning environment, shaping the future of young minds from birth to school age. In this role, you will oversee the strategic and operational management of our campus-based Children’s Centre, ensuring excellence in education, compliance, and community engagement.

This is your opportunity to drive innovation in early childhood education, fostering an inclusive and nurturing space where children, families, and educators thrive. You’ll also play a key role in connecting the centre to broader campus community, supporting students and staff at TAFE NSW.

Our Children’s Centres operate Monday to Friday, with varying hours from 8:00am to 6:00pm for each location. We are open for 48 weeks per year, with a refreshing four-week break over Christmas. 

We currently have the following opportunities available for immediate offer:

  • x1 Permanent, full-time position located at TAFE NSW Albury Children’s Centre (20 place)
  • x1 Temporary, full-time position from 22 April 2025 until 11 January 2027 located at TAFE NSW Newcastle Children’s Centre (40 place)  
  • x1 Temporary, full-time position from 26 May 2025 until 10 July 2025 located at TAFE NSW Narrandera Children’s Centre (22 place)
  • x1 Temporary, full-time position from 31 March 2025 until 4 June 2025 located at TAFE NSW Blacktown Children’s Centre (40 place)

In addition to the above vacancies, we are actively building a talent pool for Early Childhood Directors across our 15 TAFE NSW Children’s Centres state-wide. Please see centre locations and capacity here.

About you

You are a passionate and driven leader in early childhood education, committed to creating a nurturing, high-quality learning environment for children, families, and educators.

  • Lead with confidence: Mentor and inspire a team of educators to deliver excellence in care and education.
  • Champion inclusivity: Foster diverse and engaging learning experiences tailored to each child's needs.
  • Communicate with impact: Build strong relationships with families, staff, and the wider community.

  • Organised & focused: Manage competing priorities with efficiency, ensuring smooth centre operations.

Essential requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (ACECQA-approved).
  • Minimum two years' experience in early childhood services.
  • Thorough understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements, including the National Quality Framework and Child Protection (Mandatory Reporting).
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate inclusive educational programs that support individual and group learning needs.
  • Proven experience in financial and staff management, including overseeing budgets and ensuring compliance.
